NY1 Anchors OK’d for Most Sex, Age Bias Claims Against Charter

Four female long-time NY1 news anchors suing for discrimination allegedly stemming from Charter Communications Inc.'s merger with Time Warner Cable Inc. can pursue most of their sex and age bias claims, a Manhattan federal judge ruled Thursday.

Roma Torre, the station’s first on-air hire, also can sue for pay bias.

Kristen Shaughnessy, Jeanine Ramirez, Amanda Farinacci, and Torre adequately alleged in their June 2019 suit that they were relegated to inferior studios, had their on-air time reduced, and otherwise received lesser career-advancing services and opportunities than younger and/or male anchors.
