NY Bill Calls for Employers to Report Worker Race, Gender Data

New York would require certain private sector companies to report employee data including gender, race, and ethnicity, to the state, which would then be published publicly, under a bill passed by the state Senate Monday.

The measure (S.636) would require corporations and limited liability companies that already file employer information to the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to file similar information with the New York secretary of state’s office. That information would be published on the secretary of state’s website within 90 days.
