Nursing Home Settles EEOC Suit Alleging Residents Groped Workers

SSC Montrose San Juan Operating Co. and SavaSeniorCare Administrative Services have agreed to pay $150,000 to settle a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit, the EEOC said Wednesday.

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleged the SAVA-owned San Juan Living Center in Montrose, Colo. subjected female employees to sexual harassment from residents of the nursing facility, and did nothing to stop or prevent the behavior after it was reported.

SAVA retaliated against a female employee who flagged the harassment by suspending her without pay and firing her, the commission said. The alleged conduct violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act ...
