Eight hundred union nurses at a Massachusetts hospital are threatening to strike next month over staffing shortages, setting up what would be one of the largest work stoppages in the health-care sector during the pandemic.
In a strike notice submitted Tuesday evening to St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass., the nurses said they would walk off the job at 6 a.m. March 8 if management refuses to increase staffing levels—echoing a common refrain from front-line health-care workers as the pandemic nears the one-year mark.
