Novo Nordisk Defeats Worker’s Race Bias, FMLA Interference Suit

Novo Nordisk Inc. scored a pretrial victory ending claims that it discriminated against a former employee because she’s Black, interfered with her protected medical leave, and retaliated against her for speaking up.

The worker failed to make out an initial case for racial bias, and even if she had, she failed to show the pharmaceutical company’s legitimate reasons for firing her were actually excuses for discrimination, the US District Court for the District of New Jersey said.

The plaintiff, Tanya Hughes, also abandoned her leave claims, the Monday opinion added.
