Nominee for DOL Wage Chief Tied in Committee, Needs Extra Vote

The Senate labor committee deadlocked 11-11 Tuesday on David Weil’s nomination for a second stint heading the U.S. Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division, forcing an extra procedural vote to be held before he’s eligible for final consideration.

The party-line tie requires Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to find time for the full Senate to vote on whether to discharge Weil from committee. It wasn’t immediately clear when that vote would take place.
