Workers, unions, and employers filed over 20,000 unfair labor practice charges and election petitions with the National Labor Relations Board in fiscal year 2023, marking a 10% jump from the prior year and the highest number of cases filed since 2016.
Of those cases, 19,854 were ULP charges alleging a violation of federal labor law, a 10% increase from last year’s tally of 17,988 charges. Employees also submitted 3% more union representation petitions this year, totaling 2,594 filings—the highest number since fiscal year 2015, the agency said in a statement Friday.
