NLRB Rejects Union Bid to Preserve Victory at Hormel Offshoot

A divided National Labor Relations Board cleared the way for a rerun election at a Hormel Foods Corp. subsidiary in Kansas after the union’s previous victory was thrown out.

The board’s Republican majority declined Thursday a United Food and Commercial Workers affiliate’s request to reconsider whether a new vote is necessary, saying the first vote was “marred by errors.”

The decision shows the impact of the 2-1 partisan split on the NLRB, even if the Republicans won’t overturn precedents until a third GOP member joins the board.
