NLRB Next Stop for New York Times Tech Workers’ Union Campaign

A union seeking to represent New York Times technology workers will have to go through the National Labor Relations Board election process following the company’s announcement that it won’t voluntarily recognize the group.

The Times said in a statement Thursday that its tech workers want more information about the consequences of unionization and the opportunity to vote on union representation.

The Times Tech Guild, an affiliate of the NewsGuild, asked the company last week to voluntarily recognize it after announcing a majority of the tech workers signed cards to unionize. The union wants to represent a group of about 650 ...
