A New York City nonprofit can withdraw from its agreement to hold a union election originally scheduled for March in light of operational changes caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the National Labor Relations Board ruled.
Housing Works Inc. made a series of significant moves in response to the virus—including large-scale layoffs, shuttering several locations, and adding new services—soon after reaching an election deal with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, the NLRB said in its Thursday decision.
