NLRB Keeps Power Over Charter School Labor Relations (2)

The National Labor Relations Board will continue to assert jurisdiction over charter schools in particular cases, declining to voluntarily cede power to the states as a blanket policy.

The NLRB contemplated withdrawing its authority to oversee labor relations at all charter schools in a case involving a campaign to remove the union at KIPP Academy Charter School in New York City, inviting interested parties to weigh in on the matter. The board ultimately affirmed a regional director’s ruling that OK’d a decertification election at the school.
