NLRB Issues Guidance on Electronic Signatures

Unions and other petitioners may submit electronic signatures to satisfy a “showing of interest” in National Labor Relations Board representation cases, but they must follow prescribed procedures and standards, according to a guidance memorandum (Memorandum GC 15-08) issued Sept. 1 by General Counsel Richard F. Griffin.

The board has accepted signed authorization cards and signature lists to demonstrate that a labor organization or a petitioner has sufficient support to warrant the NLRB processing a representation case.
