NJ Transit Train Engineers Strike, Disrupting Travel to NYC

New Jersey Transit locomotive engineers started striking early Friday, triggering a shutdown of the agency’s rail service and disrupting travel for hundreds of thousands of commuters.

The walk-out of 450 engineers started at 4 a.m. New York time when workers took to picket lines at major hubs including New York’s Penn Station and outside NJ Transit’s headquarters in Newark. The demonstrations mark the first railroad strike in more than 40 years for the agency.
