Nissan has begun offering buyouts to US workers and halted merit-based pay increases globally, Reuters reports, citing internal documents.
- US buyouts taking place at its Canton plant in Mississippi
- Also to salaried workers in human resources, planning, information technology and finance
- The plan is “crucial for Nissan’s comeback,” Nissan Americas Chairman Christian Meunier said in an email seen by Reuters
- Nissan’s North America unit is offering a voluntary separation program to a limited group of salaried employees, the automaker told Reuters in a statement
