Newspaper Efforts to Up Reporter’s Output Legal, NLRB Judge Says

A National Labor Relations Board judge dismissed a case against a Pennsylvania newspaper accused of changing working conditions for a reporter without negotiating with the union.

The NewsGuild, which is affiliated with the Communications Workers of America, filed an unfair labor practice charge against The Morning Call, which covers Lehigh Valley, Pa. The NewsGuild alleged that editors unilaterally altered conditions for one reporter by urging him to write more articles.
