New York Professors File Civil Rights Suit Over Union Dues (1)

Half a dozen professors at City University of New York filed a civil rights lawsuit against their faculty union, saying they’ve been unable to end their membership after it promoted what they described as “anti-Semitic, anti-Jewish, and anti-Israel” positions through a resolution in support of Palestine last year.

The six plaintiffs, five of whom are Jewish, say they’ve tried to resign from the Professional Staff Congress but are required under state law to let the union represent them because they are part of the bargaining unit, according to the complaint.
