New York Passes $15 Minimum Wage, Paid Family Leave

New York would gradually raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour for most workers and become the first state to require that employees get 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave, under a bill expected to be signed shortly by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D).

The bill (S. 6406) was approved by the state Senate March 31 and the state Assembly April 1. An estimated 2.3 million workers would be covered by the wage increase 30 LRW 317, 2/17/16, 29 CBEM, 2/12/16, 28 DLR A-5, 2/11/16.
