New York Offers Free Online Job Training for Pandemic Unemployed

New York state launched a free online platform aiming to help workers adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic learn new skills, earn certificates, and advance their careers.

The platform provides unemployed or underemployed New Yorkers access to nearly 4,000 online courses in industries such as advanced manufacturing, technology and health care, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a news release Tuesday.

The offerings are provided through a partnership with the state Department of Labor and the Coursera learning platform. Classes include introduction to mechanical engineering design, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, and the business of health-care specialization.
