New York Moves to Oversee Union Disputes While NLRB Lacks Quorum

A bill heading to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s (D) desk aims to fill the void in governance over labor-management disputes left by the National Labor Relations Board’s lack of a quorum, after winning a final Assembly vote Tuesday.

The legislation (A 8590 / S 8034) would bring private-sector employees under the scope of the state’s Labor Relations Act, unless the NLRB “successfully asserts jurisdiction” via federal court order over “any employees, employer, trades, or industries,” according to the bill.
