New York Life Insurance Co. has reached “an agreement in principle” settling a race discrimination lawsuit alleging the company’s criminal background checks for job seekers violate New York state and city laws by requesting and using information relating to crimes for which applicants weren’t convicted, federal court records show.
Counsel for Aliea Hughes-Phillips informed the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York of the settlement Monday, in a letter seeking a further stay in the proposed class suit.
