New York City settled a lawsuit by emergency medical employees and their union claiming the workers’ free-speech rights were violated when they were temporarily benched for voicing concerns to media outlets about their job conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The US District Court for the Southern District of New York said the parties have reached a settlement in principle and dismissed the case Thursday. Trial was set for March 2023.
No details of the proposed deal are publicly available yet. The city declined to comment because the settlement isn’t final, spokesperson Nicholas Paolucci told Bloomberg Law.
