US Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito swore in a former law clerk as one of two new members of Texas’ highest court.
Alito administered the oath of office on Thursday to Supreme Court of Texas Justice Kyle Hawkins, during a formal ceremony held at the Texas Capitol for him and fellow state Justice James Sullivan.
Hawkins had come highly recommended before he clerked for Alito, so the justice had “very high expectations” when he started, Alito said.
“He not only fulfilled all those expectations, he exceeded them,” Alito said.
