A proposed regulation that would update the fees charged for immigration benefits is under review at the White House.
The proposal was posted to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs website Monday (RIN 1615-AC68). OIRA review is a preliminary bureaucratic step in crafting new regulations. After the proposed rule is cleared by the White House, it’s published in the Federal Register for a public comment period. That input informs the final rule issued by the agency, a process that often takes months.
