New NLRB Members Tap Agency Staff for Chief Counsel Positions

Freshly confirmed labor board members James Murphy and Scott Mayer selected two agency veterans to serve as their chief counsels as the board restarts its work after it was stymied without a quorum for most of last year.

On Wednesday the agency announced Murphy picked Rachel Gartner, a chief counsel to former chairman Marvin Kaplan and over two-decade veteran of the National Labor Relations Board, to serve as his top lawyer. Mayer tapped Grant Kraus, a former deputy chief counsel who first joined the board in 1990, to the same post.
