The New Jersey Legislature is considering legislation that could reshape a provision in many workplace contracts in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

Nondisclosure agreements are required by many companies as a condition of employment. Originally their function was to protect trade secrets. The language often was boilerplate, and the purpose was, for the most part, practical and noncontroversial.
