New Jersey legislation requiring hotels with more than 100 guest rooms to protect employees from sexual harassment and assault by equipping them with emergency-alert panic buttons was signed into law by New Jersey Gov.
The legislation (S2986/A4439) follows the outlines of laws passed in Chicago and Seattle to address the risk of sexual assault and other violence against hotel workers. It appears to be the first such state law for hotels, although in May, Washington state passed a law requiring panic buttons and other protections for dancers in strip clubs.
