New Jersey employers must give up to 12 weeks of unpaid family leave for employees affected by school closures or quarantine orders related to the Covid-19 pandemic, under legislation Gov.
The new law expands the state’s existing family leave program by requiring employers to grant job-protected leave for employees who are caring for sick or quarantined family members due to Covid-19 or caring for a child whose school is closed. Murphy announced signing the bill, S2374, late Tuesday, and it takes effect retroactively to March 25.
