New DOL Acting Watchdog Is Career Official, Not Political Hire

Larry Turner, the deputy inspector general at the Labor Department since 2014, is now acting head of DOL’s independent watchdog office and the chief official reviewing the agency’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A spokesman for the Office of Inspector General confirmed the move to Bloomberg Law, referencing Turner’s online bio, which states that he became the acting IG on Monday. His predecessor, Scott Dahl, exited the DOL on Sunday, after announcing earlier this month that he’d be retiring for “entirely personal reasons.”
