Sex workers at a brothel outside of Las Vegas are trying to unionize, citing unfair labor practices and intellectual property concerns.
The 74 employees of Sheri’s Ranch, a legal brothel and resort in Pahrump, Nev. filed a petition to organize with the Communications Workers of America.
If approved by the workers and the National Labor Relations Board, the move would mark the first time that US brothel employees—formally referred to as courtesans—joined a union, according to the workers and the CWA.
