Companies with at least 50 employees in Nevada must provide them with paid time off starting Jan. 1.
Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) signed a law (S.B. 312) June 12 that his office said will protect workers who have to take care of sick family members from losing their jobs. Nevada joins a handful of states, including Maine, that considered measures this year to introduce or broaden paid leave benefits.
Workers in Nevada will accrue an hour of paid time off per 52 hours worked. They can take the time off without providing their employer with a reason.
