The NCAA was sued in federal court by a wrestler who challenged the sports organization’s application of its five-year eligibility clock, arguing that time overseas after high school shouldn’t bar him from a full career competing at the Division I level.
Plaintiff Reineri Andreu Ortega, originally from Cuba, accuses the NCAA of unfairly starting the clock too early on his eligibility to compete in college sports, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.
