National Grid Workers OK Contract, End Lockout (2)

More than 1,200 National Grid employees will be returning to work in Massachusetts after six months of being locked out by their employer during a labor dispute.

The workers, represented by two local United Steelworker unions, approved a 5 1/2-year contract in a vote that concluded Jan. 7. The final vote count wasn’t made public but passed “overwhelmingly.”

Workers will transition back to their jobs through onboarding sessions beginning this week, according to a statement from National Grid. All workers will return to work by the end of January.
