National Grid Locks Out Massachusetts Workers

National Grid called on management employees and outside contractors to fill in after the company locked out more than 1,100 of its regular workers June 25.

The workers, represented by two locals of the United Steelworkers, staff the company’s natural gas operations in Massachusetts. The lockout will continue until the company and Local 12003 and Local 12012-04 reach a final agreement that is ratified by membership, National Grid said in a statement.

National Grid is a British multinational electricity and gas utility company with principal operation in the Northeast U.S.
