New York’s lame duck state lawmakers will return Thursday for a special legislative session to give themselves a raise—to $142,000 annually, making them the highest paid state legislators in the nation.
A bill (A.10730/S.9617) that would increase lawmaker salaries effective Jan. 1, was released Monday night. The legislature is expected to return Thursday to pass the measure ahead of the Jan. 4 start of a new session, according to a source familiar with the matter.
