New York farmers will be required to pay their workers overtime after 40 hours a week starting in 2032 under regulations approved Friday by state Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon.
The new threshold will be phased in, beginning with 56 regular-pay hours per week in 2024—down from the current 60 hours—and gradually fall to a standard 40 hours in 2032.
