A nonpracticing Muslim teacher of Egyptian descent won’t get a trial on his claims that race or religious discrimination spurred his firing, not his teaching and alleged encouragement of anti-Semitic views, the Third Circuit ruled Wednesday.
Jason Mostafa Ali failed to refute Woodbridge Township (N.J.) School District’s stated reasons for removing him from his non-tenured position as a history teacher at Woodbridge High School, the court said. The district made the decision after media reports prompted an investigation into links Ali had posted on the school’s website, the court said.
