An added apprenticeship program requirement for New Jersey public works contractors doesn’t violate the constitutional rights of fire and security alarm installers, a federal court in New Jersey ruled.
The New Jersey Electronic Life Safety Security Association and Cencom Corp., a small business that does business as Central Jersey Security, said no applicable program exists, according to the court. The requirement also favors unionized businesses, they said.
