Myanmar Temporary Protected Status Designation Extended by DHS

Nationals of Myanmar will be able to secure protections from deportation and employment authorization through May 2024 under an extension of a Temporary Protected Status designation for the country.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced an extension of the TPS designation for the country, formerly known as Burma, on Monday. He cited an ongoing humanitarian crisis stemming from a military coup and violence committed by security forces against civilians.
