MVM Will Pay $1.6 Million to End EEOC’s African Origin Bias Suit

MVM Inc. will pay $1.6 million, provide anti-bias training, and take other measures to settle an EEOC lawsuit alleging African-born workers assigned to the National Institutes of Health’s Maryland campuses were subjected to unequal treatment because of their actual or perceived national origin, federal court records show.

The consent decree between the federal security contractor and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was approved Thursday by the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. The settlement also resolves claims that MVM fired or otherwise retaliated against African-born and U.S.-born workers who opposed the alleged discrimination.
