Muslim Temple University Worker Failed to Raise Race Bias Claims

Temple University doesn’t have to face race bias claims by a former electrical supervisor who says he was fired after requesting and being denied an accommodation for his Friday prayer needs because his EEOC charge only mentioned religious bias, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania ruled.

But Ricky Savage can pursue his religious bias claims, which Temple and the four supervisors he sued didn’t seek to dismiss. The motion to dismiss also didn’t address Savage’s “intersectional discrimination” allegations, so Savage may continue to pursue those as well, the court said Thursday.
