A former University of Florida professor can pursue allegations that the school retaliated against him when he sought to rearrange his work schedule in order to attend Muslim prayer.
The professor, a doctor whose role included working in the university hospital’s cardiology unit, sufficiently alleged that his requests to accommodate his need to attend Friday prayer at a nearby mosque constituted a protected activity, supporting his retaliation claim under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the US District Court for the Northern District of Florida said Wednesday.
