Leaders at a key US weather and science agency are compiling a list of employees who didn’t respond to an email asking them to explain what they did last week, an infraction that both President Donald Trump and his billionaire adviser Elon Musk have said put the workers’ jobs at risk.

Managers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which oversees the National Weather Service, had until 4 p.m. New York time Wednesday to submit the names of employees who didn’t respond to the request for five bullet points about their jobs, according to a message seen by Bloomberg ...
