Murray Calls for Confirmation of Delayed Top Benefits Regulator

US Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) is calling on Congress to confirm Lisa Gomez, President Joe Biden‘s pick to head the Labor Department’s Employee Benefits Security Administration.

Murray, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, said permanent senior leadership at the agency is overdue, and Gomez is “a strong and abundantly qualified candidate.”

Murray introduced a Senate resolution Tuesday commemorating the 48th anniversary of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, (Pub.L. 93-406), a 1974 law establishing minimum workplace benefit plans, which EBSA administers.
