Motorola Solutions Fends Off Epileptic Worker’s Bias Lawsuit

Motorola Solutions Inc. secured summary judgment ending a lawsuit alleging the company failed to accommodate a worker’s epilepsy, discriminated against him, and fired him when he sought a reduced travel schedule.

The former employee didn’t present direct evidence of disability bias or properly request an accommodation, and the telecommunications equipment provider’s concerns about his performance and conflicts with both clients and colleagues provide a legitimate, nondiscriminatory reason for his termination, the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio said Monday.
