Monsanto Sued for Excluding Immigrant From Roundup Payout (1)

Monsanto Co. and three law firms are facing a new lawsuit alleging that an immigrant farmworker wrongly was excluded from a Roundup cancer exposure settlement because of her citizenship status.

Plaintiff Elvira Reyes-Hernandez says she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after being exposed to the herbicide Roundup as a field worker on Virginia tree farms between 2015 and 2018. She accepted an offer from a $412.8 million total settlement fund set up by Monsanto parent company Bayer AG in 2020, but was subsequently denied a payout because she isn’t a US citizen, her complaint alleges.
