Molecular Diagnostics Company Settles EEOC Age Bias Lawsuit

Madison, Wis.-based Exact Sciences Corp. will pay $90,000 to settle an age discrimination lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in federal district court in Colorado, the agency said Thursday.

A third-party recruiter for Exact Sciences allegedly rejected a 49-year-old applicant for a sales position in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. The recruiter allegedly told the applicant he was “overqualified” and the company was “looking for someone more junior” who would be able to stay with Exact Sciences for “years to come,” according to the EEOC.
