Mohawk Agrees to Pay Workers $18 Million To Settle RICO Illegal Immigration Lawsuit

Mohawk Industries Inc. April 12 agreed to pay $18 million to a class of employees that alleged that the company engaged in racketeering activity by hiring illegal workers in order to depress employees’ wages (Williams v. Mohawk Indus. Inc.).

The settlement brings to a close a lawsuit that has been in the courts for six years and made its way to the U.S. Supreme Court before being remanded for further action in the lower courts.
