MLS’s Orlando City Soccer Club Settles Unpaid Overtime Suit

Orlando City Soccer Club has reached a confidential settlement of claims it misclassified an employee as a manager to avoid paying overtime wages, according to a filing in the Middle District of Florida.

Plaintiff Juliana Abss Duarte asked the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida Monday to dismiss the claims with prejudice.

The complaint alleged that Orlando Sports Holding LLC, doing business as Orlando City Soccer Club, misclassified Abss as “exempt” under the Fair Labor Standards Act and paid her on a salaried basis.
