MLB Umpire Hernandez Seeks Pretrial Bias Finding Against League

Undisputed evidence shows Major League Baseball illegally discriminated against him when handing out World Series assignments and promotions to crew chief, Angel Hernandez told the Southern District of New York in seeking a partial win in the case before it heads to trial.

Deposition testimony and other evidence collected to date establishes the MLB commissioner’s office engaged in both intentional and inadvertent discrimination against Hernandez because he is a Cuban-born Latino, the veteran umpire argued in a motion seeking partial summary judgment.
