Graduate student workers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have voted to unionize by a 66% margin.
The MIT Graduate Student Union will represent 3,800 graduate students, the Cambridge, Mass.-based university said Wednesday.
The unionization drive at MIT is the latest in an organizing wave that’s touched Brown, Harvard, and other elite colleges and universities.
“What started 4 years ago with a dozen students in an MIT classroom discussing the needs of graduate workers has culminated in this historic victory for student-workers at MIT,” the union tweeted Wednesday.
